Yesterday, an announcement flabbergasted the United Nations members. Nikki Haley, United States’ official representative at the UN, decided to leave the vessel though she was very much appreciated by a great number of ambassadors. Unlike her predecessors, her straightforwardness and communication skills allowed her to maintain relations between Washington and the United Nations.
In a recent press conference with Donald Trump Nikki Haley explained her motivation was not linked to the 2020 presidential election and would therefore not be campaigning for Donald Trump. The US president might be thinking about Dina Powell for replacement.
Nikki Haley congratulated her associates on their deep commitment in the last two years, while most of the Security Council members underlined the excellent cooperation and support she has demonstrated. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu too expressed his regrets about her decision.
