#FactOfTheDay 06/11/2018 – Tusk worried about Poland leaving the EU

On 5 November 2018, Donald Tusk, the President of the European Council, said that Poland could follow the UK out of the EU if its Polish compatriots did not become aware of Poland’s place in the EU. Tusk, a centrist who served as Polish Prime Minister from 2007 to 2014, is very critical of the ruling Eurosceptic Party of Law and Justice (PiS), which has often confronted Brussels about immigration and the rule of law. He said that David Cameron had no intention of taking his country out of the EU when he called for a referendum, adding that Poland could also withdraw as a result of a political miscalculation.
