#FactOfTheDay 18/09/2018 – Trump administration will impose tariffs on $200 billion in Chinese goods

The Trump administration announced new tariffs on a series of goods “Made in china”. The new tariffs will start at the end of September, and the amount of Chinese products hit by Washington tariffs rises to $ 505 billion. Among the goods that will be affected by the new tariffs there are lamps, spark plugs of engines, air conditioners and furniture.
The tariffs will start on 24th September and will rise to 25% at the end of the year if a satisfactory agreement with Beijing has not been reached. China had already announced retaliatory measures for $ 60 billion of US products.

“If China takes retaliatory action against our farmers or other industries we will immediately pursue phase three, which is tariffs on approximately $267bn of additional imports,” said the president, blaming Beijing’s “unfair policies and practices” for the escalation. The US and China have already imposed additional tariffs on $50bn worth of each other’s goods.
